Many seniors will be feeling much warmer this winter, thanks to the volunteers from the community for the CHORE wood delivery service. This program has been in effect for 12 years - with volunteers splitting, delivering and stacking firewood for seniors who are age 60+ (with higher priority for 75+), low income, or functionally impaired. The wood is delivered in small logs and split wood, in manageable size pieces that can be easily handled and transported.
For many, the winter would be a real hardship if they didn't receive this service. Many people are on Social Security, and it's difficult to make ends meet. It is also a problem for many people to physically cut and transport their own wood. The wood delivered by the CHORE volunteers comes from donations from businesses, contractors and people in the city and county.
